Description

Douglas 'Hank' Ivseson's first tour in Europe and 16 days of operational duties in the Middle East covering the period 7 July 1941 to 26 February 1943. Hank served with 76 Squadron, 77 Squadron and 462 Squadron and flew in Whitley and Halifax aircraft. Of a total of 44 operations described 4 were in daytime 40 night-time. He flew 38 as pilot and six as second pilot to Pilot Officer Baber, Sergeant Chell, Pilot Officer Roscoe and Sergeant Scott Martin. Targets were in Germany, Greece, Libya, Norway and Poland to Osnabrück, Aachen, Bremen, Brest, Cologne, Dortmund, Essen, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Hannover, Heraklion, Kassel, Maleme, Szczecin, Stuttgart, Tobruk and Trondheim. Details of the routes, bomb loads, weather conditions and the abilities of crew members are provided.
