G Stevens’ Navigator’s Air Bomber’s and Air Gunner’s Flying Log Book from 26th July 1943 until 11th October 1946 as a flight engineer.
From 1660 Conversion Unit posted to 50 Squadron for operations. Posted Aircrew School and then to 1654 Conversion Unit in September 1944 as Staff Engineer. Attached to No. 4 School of Technical Training in January 1945. Further operational posting to 156 Squadron (Pathfinder Force). Post war posting to 35 Squadron in October 1945.
Served at RAF Swinderby, RAF Skellingthorpe, RAF Scampton, RAF Wigsley, RAF Finningley, RAF Upwood, RAF Warboys, RAF Wyton, RAF Graveley, RAF Stradishall.
Aircraft flown were Manchester, Lancaster, Stirling, Proctor, Tiger Moth.
He flew 30 night bombing operations with 50 Squadron to targets including Hannover, Dusseldorf, Modane, Berlin, Leipzig, Frankfurt, Brunswick, Magdeburg, Stuttgart, Schweinfurt, Marignane, Nuremberg, Tours, Aachen, Paris, Juvisy-sur-Orge.
His pilot on these operations was Flying Officer Lundy.
With 156 Squadron he flew two Operation Manna (The Hague and Rotterdam), two Cook’s Tours and 4 Operation Dodge (Pomigliano and Bari). His pilots were Flight Lieutenant Wallace and Flying Officer Norton.
In July and August 1946 took part in a Goodwill Tour of the United States with 35 Squadron.
