Log book for James Douglas Crew covering the period 2 March 1943 to 24 September 949. Details his training and operations flown as wireless operator and navigator. He was stationed at RAF Binbrook (142 Squadron), RAF Swanton Morley (No4 RS), RAF Millom (No2 (O) AFU), RAF Ossington (82 OTU), RAF Gamston (82 OTU), RAF Bircotes (82 OTU), RAF Waterbeach (1651 HCU and 77 Squadron), RAF Wrattling Common (1651 HCU), RAF Feltwell, RAF Mildenhall (15 Squadron), RAF Church Lawford (18(P) AFU), RAF Snitterfield (18(P) AFU), RAF South Cerney (3(P) AFU), RAF Jurby, RAF Lynford Ashton, RAF St Eval, RAF Swinderby (201 AFS), RAF Upper Heyford (No1 PTS), RAF North Luffenham (1333 TSTU), RAF Netheravon, RAF Dishford (241 OCU) and RAF Lyneham (242 Squadron). James flew 30 operations with 15 Squadron, 25 night time and 56 daylight as wireless operator with Flight Lieutenant Fisher as pilot. Operations were to Berlin, Leipzig, Schweinfurt, Frankfurt, Essen, Nuremberg, Laon, Rouen, Düsseldorf, Karlsruhe, Friedrichshafen, Chambly, Cap Gris Nez, Courtrai, Le Mans, Duisberg, Angers, Lisieux, Massy-Palaiseau, Dreux, Gelsenkirchen, Valenciennes, Montdidier, Domleger, Villers-Bocage, Nucourt, Vaires, Linzeux. He was also involved in mine laying. Aircraft flown in were Anson, Dominie, Lancaster, Mk 1 and Mk 3, Oxford, Proctor, Stirling and Wellington. Post war in Transport Command he flew in C-47s Dakotas (including during the Berlin Airlift), Lincoln, Yorks and Hastings.
