My dear Mum,
Just a hurried note to let you know the unexpected has happened. I am on draft and it will be two or three days before I leave here, so if you haven’t completed the washing return it all, as soon as possible – by express post, I must have it by Wednesday. If the parcel has been delayed and you haven’t yet received it, wire me and then I shall put in for replacements, so in that case you will have to hang on to the washing until I return from Canada.
You must excuse me now for everything is all one
[page break]
rush, it will be about midnight before we finish tonight.
