My dear Mum,
Many thanks for the parcel which arrived Tuesday 4 oclock, [sic] and I must congratulate you on a smart piece of work in getting it ready on time.
I have now received my final instructions and will be pulling out from here tonight about midnight. We don’t know when we shall be leaving port, but you can rest assured that I will cable you on arriving, at our destination, so don’t do any unnecessary worrying.
Closing I send my love to you & Evelyn and my very kindest regards to
