I am directed to inform you that your son, 1459790 Flight Sergeant Mervyn Adder, who has been missing as the result of air operations since the night of 15th/16th March, 1944, has been appointed to a commission in the Royal Air Force in the rank of Pilot Officer on probation with effect from 22nd February, 1944.

His number is now recorded as 175073
