C A Hilder’s RCAF Observer’s and Air Gunner’s Flying Log Book from 17 February 1943 to 24 March 1944, detailing training and operations as a Bomb Aimer. He was stationed at RCAF Station Lethbridge (No. 8 Bombing and Gunnery School), RCAF Station Winnipeg (No. 5 Air Observer’s School), RAF West Freugh (No. 4 (Observers) Advanced Flying Unit), RAF Chipping Warden (No. 12 Operational Training Unit), RAF Woolfox Lodge (No. 1665 Conversion Unit), RAF Downham Market (No. 218 Squadron), RAF Waterbeach (Conversion Flight), RAF Witchford (No. 115 Squadron). Aircraft in which flown: Anson, Blenheim, Battle, Botha, Wellington, Stirling, Lancaster.
Records 5 night-time minelaying operations with 218 squadron, and 5 night operations with 115 squadron, on the following targets in France, Denmark and Germany: Frisian Islands, Cherbourg, La Rochelle, Denmark, Stuttgart, Le Mans, Frankfurt, Berlin. The final entry reads “Missing Death Presumed”. His pilot on operations was Flight Sergeant Newman.
