Description

Edgar Pratt’s Flying Log as an Air Gunner from 19 March 1943 until 20 June 1944 when he was killed. Attended No 7 Air Gunnery School, 28 OTU, 1656 Conversion Unit, and the Pathfinders National Training Unit before being posted to 156 Squadron for operations. Moved to 582 Squadron in May 1944.

Served at RAF Stormy Down, RAF Wymeswold, RAF Lindholme, RAF Upwood, RAF Warboys, RAF Little Staughton.

Aircraft flown were Defiant, Whitley, Wellington, Lancaster.

He completed one night leaflet dropping operation to Paris with 28 OTU, his pilot being Sgt Turner. A total of 17 night operations with 156 Squadron. His targets were Cologne, Berlin (7 times), Frankfurt, Stettin, Brunswick, Stuttgart, Schweinfurt, Augsburg. His pilots were Flight Sergeant Blamey, Flying Officer Day, Flying Officer Cameron and Pilot Officer Purnell.

With 582 Squadron he flew 18 operations (12 night and 6 day). Targets included Nantes, Cap Gris Nez, Boulogne, Dortmund, Mardyck, Mount Couple radar station, Longues,. Foret de Cerisy), Fougeres, Laval, Lens, Oisemont, Ardouval, Nucourt, Ferme de Forestel, St Philibert Ferme, Caen and Foret de Croc. His pilot was Squadron Leader Weightman.
