Dear All, I got 12 letters, all direct here last week – Glad to hear the business is going on so well.// I had a letter from the red cross, again asking for news of the rest of my crew. You can imagine how upset I was – after answering two previous letters from them on that subject. I will again give details of their passing and please pass them on to the red cross. I have also written direct to them. All the crew attained the dinghy on the night of NOV 7. None of the others were wounded – The dinghy overturned on the morning of Nov. 8. when Sgt. CARPENTER & Sgt CHAMBERS were drowned. Of the three of us left (it took about 1 1/2 hours to climb back into the dinghy) P/O SIMPSON went delirious that night and passed on shortly after. S/Ldr. DICKENSON went the same way about 4 pm on the evening of NOV 9th. I was picked up soon after. Both the latter were buried on NORDERNY on Tues. Nov/11/41 but to the best of my knowledge the former two bodies were never recovered// In future it would be better to address all mail to “No 80, (OFLAG III C) [underlined] via [/underlined] STALAGLUFT III,” to speed up delivery at this end – Love to all Brian xx
