[underlined] 10th Sept. 44. [/underlined]
Dear Mum, Dad & Fmly, [sic] On the 4th Sept I received two letters from you, one was written by Doris on the 20th April & one by Dad written on 22nd May, I also had one from Pat dated 7th June, the following day I had your first letter written to me via Geneva. My total number of letters is now 43, which is pretty good though most of them are rather out of date now. I’m sorry to hear about Paddy, but he may be none the worse for his experience than myself, lets hope so anyway, I should imagine the news should be through by now. You spoke of a man visiting you about his son being in this camp, it’s a pity you were out at the time. I believe the chap’s name is Stanley Fautley I know him alright, first met him in November ’43 he was shot down soon after. He lives at Collier Row I believe, & probably mentioned me in his letters home. Thanks for sending the second parcel, I’ve received none yet, my advice at present time is not to send anymore parcels, you’ve probably done this anyway. Well its now September the months are passing by, & I think the last 3 will be remembered for a long time to come. I expect you are all pretty joyful at home wish I could be with you, but I doubt if it will be long anyway until this wish becomes reality. The weather has changed, our hot spell packed in with plenty of cloud, wind & some rain, its now fine again, but much cooler. I’ve seen 3 one act plays at our Theatre & our next show will be a variety “Kriegy Kocktail” starting Monday. I’m still attending classes they pass the time quite well. I’m still very fit & feeling OK just longing for that long hoped for day, but never mind – I hope your fattening the turkey for Christmas. Cheerio now Love to all,
