Sir,
I am directed to refer to your letter of 16th April, 1945, and to inform you that deductions of £5 8s. 0d. a month are continuing to be made from your son’s pay so that his account will not fall into debt in the possible event of the German Government deciding to pay him the arrears due to him.
I am to explain however that these deductions are provisional only, and are subject to adjustment on his repatriation when he will be able to give details of the actual payments he has received from the German Government.
The enquiry regarding your son’s post office savings book is being referred
