Description

Pilot’s flying log book for Flight Sergeant David Joseph from 20 January 1944 to 18 March 1944, recording squadron-based training and operations flown. Served at RAF Holme-on-Spalding Moor. Aircraft flown were Halifax Mk 2, Halifax Mk 1, Halifax Mk 3 and Halifax Mk 5. He carried out a total of six operations with 76 Squadron as a pilot on the following targets in France and Germany: Berlin, Frankfurt, Le Mans, Stuttgart and Trappes. His pilot for his first 'second dickie' operation was Flight Sergeant Cole. He failed to return from an operation to Frankfurt. The list of his crew who failed to return does not include Sergeant Louis Makens who joined the crew as mid under gunner and became a prisoner of war.
