Dear May & Will
many thanks for letter, the news again is splendid & I am as pleased as anyone of us can be to know that Reg is well & comparitively [sic] safe, it has been a thrilling experience for him & we must all hope that he will be none the worse for it. its quite nice of you to let me know so soon, though I guessed that I should know as soon after you got the news as possible anyhow you can rest your mind contented & hope he will soon be
[page break]
home. we have some noise & nasty gunfire round here I expect you have had some of it round your way, never mind keep smiling. I am pleased to tell you that my leg is much better this last week or 2 I have [inserted] been [/inserted] out on my own for several short walks I am hoping when the weather is warmer I shall be able to get a little further still, otherwise everything alright
I know you will let me have it as soon you get any further news so cheerio for the present
