It’s a very pretty district around here, in the train coming up just after Shrewsbury & right up to Bridgnorth the railway line followed a river down a very green valley. I think the region round here is mainly noted for cattle grazing, you see very few crops grown, which is very different to Yorkshire and a very nice change after Manchester. As we left Manchester the sun appeared and this valley, dotted with small woods of many coloured trees looked a grand sight in the sunshine, and ever [sic] so often small picturesque cottages appeared, one in particular must have been covered with red creeper flowers, for one side was a brilliant red.
