88 items. The collection concerns Pilot Officer Mervyn Adder (1922 - 1944, 175073 Royal Air Force) and contains his diaries, correspondence and photographs. detailed to guard our kit during the night, as it hadn’t been given out, and it looks as though we are going to spend the night sleeping on piles of kit bags.
It’s a very pretty district around here, in the train coming up just after Shrewsbury & right up to Bridgnorth the railway line followed a river down a very green valley. I think the region round here is mainly noted for cattle grazing, you see very few crops grown, which is very different to Yorkshire and a very nice change after Manchester. As we left Manchester the sun appeared and this valley, dotted with small woods of many coloured trees looked a grand sight in the sunshine, and ever [sic] so often small picturesque cottages appeared, one in particular must have been covered with red creeper flowers, for one side was a brilliant red.
