14th August, 1944.
Dear Mrs. Wareing,
Thank you for your kind letter of August, 12th 1944.
You should by now have received the letter which I intimated in my telegram was to follow.
In assuring you again of my sincere sympathy, I regret that there is no further news to give you of your husband, nor am I at liberty to divulge the target of his operations on the night of 7th/8th August, 1944.
I am sure, however, from my knowledge of your husband and his able crew that they would make the most of every opportunity to reach safety, and we are all with you in the hope that good news will soon be forthcoming.
Yours sincerely,
