Dear Mum,
At present I’m on nine days leave in London & thought I’d better write a few lines so that there will be no undue gap between my letters. I came down last Monday night with Ken, our rear gunner & we’ve been staying at the A.O.F. club which is very nice. I’ve had a cold ever since we arrived but thank goodness it’s clearing up now. We have spent most of our time going to theatres & pictures so far but for the next few days plan on seeing some of the historic places round about & going ice skating. Also figure on going out to Margaret Vyners place for tea on Tuesday; she said to always be sure to call every time I’m on leave in the vicinity which is very nice of her. On Wednesday I think it was Ken & I were just inside the Boomerang Club when I spotted Kirk Beddie looking very fine as an F/O pilot. He’s just going onto Sunderlands in Coastal Command, same squadron as Jimmy Bunce whom I told him to look up. He looks very well but is still the same quiet old Kirk. He asked if I’d seen Scottie Gull from the Bank but I said I’d never known him at home. Just then he walked in & imagine my surprise when I [deleted] [indecipherable letter] [/deleted] recognised him as a navigator from the same Squadron as myself & I’d never know that he was from Mendooran. Bushie Goodfellow from [deleted] [indecipherable word] [/deleted] Tooraweenah is there too. Well represented. Cheerio for now. Love to all Bert XXXX
