Dear Mum, Dad, Yvonne & Moira,
I have just received your letter of Dec 27th. Interesting to hear the news although it was rather old.
I’m afraid my camera is pretty useless. I have to buy other chaps snaps mostly, although they are pretty good. Incidentally we found out later we could get beer at Neepawa camp, but we didn’t bother much as it doesn’t go well with training. Glad Fishy has done her two lengths. She’s quite young to swim isn’t she.
Interesting to hear about Trowbridge. I’m glad he’s on ops at last. I have this morning off, & we’re flying [deleted] at [/deleted] this afternoon. I’m hoping to bash the hours in. Yes, they certainly jitterbug here, which lets me out. A lot of the young rips have “Zoot suits”. Ridiculous things, with coats down to the knees, tight trousers with zippers, watch chain hanging down to their knees & cowboy hats. They use these for jitterbugging. I’ve heard from Pete Lamb. He has joined the rest of the Neepawa boys at Carberry. In the course that have just got there [sic] wings only 40% are coming home. The rest are going on Reconnaisance courses, [deleted] are [/deleted] or staying as Instructors. I’m sending another small parcel, containing a few small things like shampoos, razor blades etc, which you should get in about ten weeks. Well, I think that all for now folks. The course is going on its way. We are now in the midst of our Mid-term exams.
Much love
Terry.
