No mail to acknowledge & very little fresh news. We [inserted] have [/inserted] had our first spell of fine weather since our arrival. It lasted nearly 2 weeks but is over now & the elements are just about as unpleasant as they possibly could be. [one sentence censored] I manage to get daily practice on the fiddle, still but am handicapped by lack of music & strings. Any news of Jack B.P? My 5th parcel duly arrived & is very much appreciated. I don’t want any more clothing now not even socks or h’chiefs (apart from underwear already requested) so please dont [sic] send any until I ask. If I am to be here most of next year I’d like a pair of stout brown walking shoes. My existing ones will soon cease to exist. I love that [inserted] last [/inserted] photo of you, dearest
All my love
John. [page break]
