Dear Mum, Dad, Hazel & Norman,
I received two more airgraphs today, one from No. 63 and one from Pop, containing the news of Norman’s decision to go on the Air Navigator’s course, the initials of which (A.N.) you can see in my address. I shall certainly be able to tell Norman plenty about the navigation course. We had our 5th examination today and I’m 100 percent confident I’ve got through this one. This leaves only 8 or 9 more exams. in the next 4 weeks which are the last 4 weeks of this course. During next week (it is Friday today) we have 2 exams., the second being the chief one of the whole lot.
It saddened me greatly to hear of Frank Henry’s death in action. He was one of the best chaps you could ever wish to meet & I had being [sic] looking forward to meeting him again even though the possibility was slight. He was just the type of pal it would have been a pleasure to fly with and have complete confidence in.
I don’t know what’s wrong with the airgraph service in the homeward direction. My airgraphs home seem to be taking much longer on the way than yours coming out. The last few to arrive have taken only 17 days. I’ll continue on another airgraph.
All my love, Ron XXXXXX
