Halifax 'U again' aircrew and ground crew
Title
Halifax 'U again' aircrew and ground crew
Description
A group of seven aircrew standing and four ground crew, crouched in front of a Halifax 'U-again'. Nose art indicates 36 operations. There is a cartoon rabbit holding a bomb and being attacked by a fighter. On the reverse is a modern detailed explanation about the aircraft and operations. It partly obscures a caption '466 Sqdn Driffield Yorks [undecipherable]'.
Under the modern sheet is 'Self (E. Cutts) -F/O B. Septon - P/O R. Monk - Capt. - F/O N. Carlton F/Sgt R. Smith -F/O G. Russell 34 Operations 1 Enemy a/c 1945'.

HALIFAX BOMBER WITH CAPTAIN AND CREW (seven crew to a bomber) rear row. Front row – ground crew who maintained and serviced this aircraft.
Bomber fitted with 4 propellor [sic] driven PRATT & WHITNEY powered engines. Halifax bomber is classified as a Heavy Bomber. There are 25 bombes to a bomber squadron. For identification purposes each bomber has a letter of the alphabet (except letter I) Because bomber “U” was such a reliable aircraft and used so often, it became known as “U AGAIN”.
There are little bombs painted on the side of the bomber to denote each bombing raid. At time photo taken – 36 raids.
