Description

Observer's and air gunner's flying log book for Flight Lieutenant Oliver Gomersal from 17 September 1943 to 7 November 1944. He trained as a navigator in Great Britain and in South Africa and was stationed in East Africa and Yemen with 621 Squadron. He carried out 54 operational sorties tasked with convoy escort, patrols and shipping lane sweeps. On 2 May 1944 his aircraft attacked and crippled a German submarine near Socotra in the Arabian Sea. Aircraft flown were Anson, Oxford and Wellington.
