Description

A local report of the crash of Lancaster ED966 in which Victor Wells died together with pilot Flight Lieutenant Ivor Philip Chester Goudge, air bomber Sergeant Ronald Stuart Richmond, Flight Engineer Sergeant Albert Edward Graham, air gunner Sergeant Norman Morgan Hatch and air gunner Sergeant Joseph Hardman. Navigator, Sergeant J Gorton, survived the crash and became a prisoner of war. Decribes the effectiveness of the operation and the circumstances and aftermath of the crash. Includes an image of a house with parts of the aircraft lodged in its roof and in the front garden alongside which a man in military uniform is standing. Labelled 'Lancaster Ed 996-GZ-J. Foto W.Heun'.
