Kay Darling,
Many thanks for your letter received yesterday, written Tuesday. Afraid Darling the 6th was out of the question, maybe the 17th now. Unfortunately the skipper is ill with throat trouble, that has rather upset arrangements, however he will probably be OK for Friday, we should get the 'gen' then.
I wonder if there is any chance of Constantine Bay? It's a hell of a way!
We tried swimming yesterday but met with no results.
By the way would you like a duck or a fowl when I come home on leave, I possibly may be able to get one. Good idea?
[page break]
2.
Still have not heard from Bert so I dropped him a line, its funny as he has always been so prompt.
Hows Wendy? If she's still around please give her my kindest regards.
We are leading a quiet life, fair amount of tennis, they made a terrible job of my white pants.
By the way sweetheart, can you get me a pair of white ankle socks, they will have to be ladies so get as large a size in them as possible, plain or [indecipherable word] type will do. Thanks pal.
Goodbye my sweet
Yours always
love Jim xxx.
