Dear mum & dad,

Hello again here's just a few lines to let you know you're not forgotten.

I arrived back alright and am now back in the swim again waiting for something to happen; that's the trouble with this place we hang around for ages and get fed-up, I'd much sooner do one trip a day and get finished than do one a month. Here I am grumbling again, still they say a soldier's never happy unless he has something to grumble about.

I see one lot of chaps have

already come home for Xmas from Italy, I don't suppose there's any sign of our big lad yest is there? it sure would be grand if he could be here too.

I sent two photo’s to Vera of our crew as we arrived back from the 'Tirpitz' do, the film was scratched and the light was poor but it's us anyway, she'll be bringing you one down when she comes home this week.

Derek doesn't seem to be very settled at nights now unless he's in with Vera of course then he's no bother at all, he seems to be scared

of being left on his own, but maybe he'll grow out of it.

I got a suprise [sic] today, my Second Class Navigator's certificate arrived this morning; I've been qualified for it these last eighteen months but they must have missed me somehow. I couldn't get a First Class because to qualify for that we have to do a six month's course and there havn't [sic] been any vacancies for months. However it isn't everybody that has even a Second Class certificate so it's some appreciation of our work to get one, there's no extra money in it but it would certainly useful if I wanted to

go in for Civil Aviation.

Well there doesn't seem anything special to write about so I'll close for now and write later on.

Keep well and look after yourselves, has David filled his stamp album yet?

Good-night and God Bless.

Your Loving Son.
