Title

Letter from Ron Witty to his mother, father and siblings

Description

Says he has been very busy and had not received any airgrams form home recently. Writes that he had had his second air trip and though he would enjoy the job despite much hard work to come. States that an air navigator needs to be good to learn all required and get his brevet. So if there were any future gaps in his correspondence it would be because he was working hard.

Dear Mum, Dad, Hazel, & Norman,
This is the first time I’ve missed writing to you on a week-end or Monday evening, so you can be sure I’ve been up to my neck in work. I haven’t received any airgraphs from home just recently. They usually arrive in spasms. I think that the latest arrival was an ancient letter from Norman. It took 3 months to arrive so I advise you to stick to Airgraphs, which get here in 3-4 weeks. If you’ve a lot to write send several Airgraphs. They’re welcome. I sent off an ordinary letter to you nearly a week ago so you’ll see when it arrives. (If it does, that is.) Well, I’ve had my second air trip now and I think I shall still enjoy the job although the going was rather bumpy this time. There’s a devil of a lot of swotting ahead I can see. Take it from me, an air navigator has to be darned good these days to learn all the stuff required to get him his brevet. So if there is ever a longish gap (say 2 weeks) in my correspondence it may be that due to duties or swotting or flight plans etc. I haven’t had 10 minutes to spare. However, I’ll do my utmost to keep up to my 1 airgraph a week minimum. My health is quite good. I hope you are all in the pink, too. Let me know all about the garden and the piano-lessons. Cheerio, now and God bless you all, Ron XXXXXX
