Dear Marie,

I received your surface mail dated 17th & 20th of Feb when I returned from leave the other day but so far have not yet had any air-graphs. I’m not quite so badly off as quite a few of the boys who haven’t had any word from home to date. There is a mad rush daily for the distribution but usually there are many more [indecipherable word] faces than happy ones come away. It is the most talked of subject these days. I know you’ve a lot to do but try and [indecipherable word] me posted with a weekly airgraph at least.

From the postmark on your cable for which I thank you – I see you’ve been to [indecipherable word] and I hope you both enjoyed it and showed some benefit from the change. Glad to know Eileen pulled through alright & will write her on confirmation of her new school. I was very surprised to find Dan hadn’t rejoined his unit.

I’ve seen some pretty good shows lately and enjoyed the musical “Thousands Cheer” [deleted word] immensely, [two indecipherable words] show I’ve seen for ages. I thought Deanna Durbin’s “His Butler’s Sister” was woeful. I saw “Claudia” last night but wasn’t greatly impressed. We’ve been getting more than our share of P.T lately. We’ve all been woefully stiff – hence no dances and all pictures. Had a small celebration with the boys on Easter Saturday night – 8th but we have been pretty quiet and getting plenty of sleep. Of course pictures are out at 9 p.m. when it is still [indecipherable words]
