1st June 1944

Mrs. A.J. Layne,
97 Harlaxten Road,
Grantham, Lincs.

Dear Mrs. Layne,

[underlined] P/O. W.H. Layne. [/underlined]

We thank you for your letter of May 27th, and the coupons you were kind enough to return.

We are afraid that football shorts, shirts and stockings must be sent in a next-of-kin parcel as they [sic] is no special label issued for the purpose of a “sports” parcel. We hope you will find you have enough space to include these in your next parcel to your husband, and we are glad to know that he is not in need of any clothing at the present time.

Yours sincerely,

E.M. Thornton. For

Director.
