Sir,
With reference to the letter from this Department dated 19th July 1944, I am directed to inform you, with great regret, that as no further information has come to hand about your son, Acting Flight Lieutenant H. L. Fry, since he was reported missing, the Department now propose to presume his death for official purposes. Before this action is taken, however, it is requested that you will be good enough formally to confirm that you have received no evidence of his survival.
As soon as the necessary formalities have been completed, you will be notified.
I am to add that any further information or details which come to the knowledge of the Air Ministry will at once be conveyed to you.
