Detailing his flying training and operations flown. He was stationed at RAF Yatesbury (2 Radio School), RAF Evanton (8 AGS), RAF Wigtown (1(Observer’s) AFU), RAF Finningley (18 OTU), RAF Blyton (1662 HCU), RAF Hemswell (1 LFS), RAF Kelstern & RAF Scampton (625 Squadron), RAF Doncaster (9 RFS).
Aircraft flown in were Dominie, Anson, Wellington, Halifax, Lancaster.
He flew a total of 14 night-time and 5 daylight bomber operations (total 19) plus 2 “spam dropping” and one Cook’s Tour with 625 Squadron, targets were Essen, Cologne, Dusseldorf, Bochum, Dortmund, Bonn, Zeitz, Mannheim, Bottrup, Geilenkirchen, Wanne Eichel, St Vith, Rheydt, Heligoland and Neuss. From 1951 to 1953 he flew as RAFVR with 9 Reserve Flying School.
