Dear Mum, Dad & Moira.
I’ve just come back from leave, & am now waiting for posting.
Since I last wrote I’ve had a marvellous time Going to parties, shows, tobogganing, skating, etc.
We went toboganning last Sunday, & afterwards, at about midnight, Arthur Walker & myself decided to cut across the Assinaboine [sic] River to get home. We were nearly across when I stept [sic] on a soft piece of ice & went through. Luckily, I managed to break the ice, & get ashore, but I had to run all the way home as the temp. was 20° below, even so I had to break my trousers to get them off, they were frozen solid.
I’ve had 15 letters etc waiting for me Several from you, of all different dates. One air mail was dated 12th Dec. It only took 12 days to arrive.
I’m writing this now, as it gets to you fairly quickly, & I will write a letter later to-day.
Only seven of us have been chosen for single-engine aircraft, & only one chap I know so I shall have to start making friends all over again.
Love to all
Terry
