Dear Mum, Dad & Moira
I’m writing this from Winnipeg where I am on 13 days leave.
I’ve been here since 2 days before Christmas & up to now I’ve been staying at another address.
Unfortunately the day before I left camp. I had my wallet with 56 dollars in it, pinched. The lads kindly clubbed round & gave me 25 dollars to go on leave with, but that, with a bad cold, rather mucked up my leave. At Christmas I only had 2 glasses of port to drink Anyway, I’m hoping for a good New Year, which is really celebrated over here.
We’ve discovered that this is really the wrong time of year for Canada. Apparently in summer, there are some super bathing places & it is really hot, but now with snow & cold every where it rather cuts down on things. Anyway there is plenty of skiing going on.
They have just started rationing butter over here, 1/2 lb per person per week, so its not much hardship.
I may be seeing Don to-morrow, as he may be coming to Winnipeg. Apparently, he has been rather worrying about me as he hadn’t heard from me for some time. Anyway I sent him a Christmas card so it’s O.K. now.
I’ll be writing again when I get back to camp.
Much love.
Terry
