My dear Douglas.
I wonder if you have been asleep all night, or have been tossing & turning in bed, wooing sleep in vain, as I have. You know that Grandad is staying here & yesterday Auntie Dorothy came again & it must be that I am a bit nervy & tired as I seemed to get rather perturbed. My happiest hour of the day was spent in my little garden planting pansies, just before bed-time. They brought many memories of our happy journeyings together. Little did we realize in those happy days just how priceless their memories would be & now I am just living all the time for the joyous reunion which will bring new life again. Always I am thinking of you in sunshine, in starshine, in daylight & through every many dark hours of night my heart is with my treasure in the Oasis of Laghouat.
Last week we had lovely sunny

days but since Sunday skies have been dull & grey. Still the pageant of Spring unfolds & the new green gives me great joy. We have a few flowers now – deep purple primroses, arabis, polyanthus & promise of many more very soon. Dad has mowed the lawns twice already. They are very similar to the ones at Kensal so perhaps you can picture them with nice long lines of straight mowing, up & down.
Now love I must run & feed my “baby.” Ridiculous isn’t it but true it is!! Hope to have much more opportunity for writing next week. Always all our love & thoughts & prayers from Mother & Dad.
