Darling Johnny,
How do you like this? The letter I sent to Halton returned here by the simple expedient of tearing off one layer of envelope savers! I enclose the whole thing.
It was so sweet of you to ring up last night & I am thrilled to death at the prospect of the billets you have found. The one uncertainty about the whole thing seems to me to be your next visit to Halton. It should be around Christmas time, & if they decide to operate that
[page break]
will muck everything up. Or do you think they will put it off again till you’ve finished your OTU?
I decided not to go jaunting up to the West End today as Frances’ cold is still very heavy, poor wee mite. Last night she was crying on & off till 2 am, & I am getting Dr Bethune in today, tho’ I don’t really think its anything worse than a nasty cold & cough. It’s pitiful to see her looking so miserable, she who is always so bright & happy.
Longing to see you next weekend
Always yours Ursula.
