STALAG LUFT III, LAGER “A”
Kriegsgefangenenlager
Datum: 10th October 1943
New address for mail as above – parcels still to Luft VI. Another parcel from my darling wife – Music from Selfridges AND violin strings. Both are extremely welcome – wish I’d had that tutor months ago. I now have ample material [inserted] except strings [/inserted] for practice for at least a year, though I’d still like the stuff I asked for in my last letter. I badly new outdoor shoes, my feet now protrude from my present pair. I’d also like another comb & if poss. another lighter similar to the one already sent, which, if temperamental, does yourman [sic] service. This catalogue embraces [underlined] all [/underlined] my outstanding needs – my loving thanks to you, dearest, for your kind attention to all my wants. Still anxiously awaiting news of your home hunting efforts. Love to Frances & of course to you. John.
