Dear Mr Madgett,
I was very sorry indeed to hear from one of our Directors that your son Hedley, did not return from a recent raid over Germany.
No doubt he has mentioned working with me when at Harkers & I feel, on that account, I should write to you.
Among the many lads that have passed through my department he was outstanding in [underlined] every [/underlined] respect, and for that reason I feel sure he must be safe.
Meanwhile, I trust your anxiety will soon be relieved with good news of him.
