Darling,
Just a line or two [underlined] in haste [/underlined] Well I landed at Torquay Station at 1.50PM yesterday & spent the rest of the day doing tedious inspections etc [sic] [words missing] very glad to

I was sound asleep by 9. PM and didn’t even hear the Sergeant come into the Room.
The weather & Place is Glorious. There is about 1500 of us & we are all billeted at Posh hotels which the RAF have taken over.
Last night I had share a room with 3 other fellows

[underlined] 3 [/underlined]
(1) a youngster 19 from Glasgow University
(2) a Solicitors Clerk from Morcombe [sic]
(3) an Insurance agent from LPool [Liverpool]
Today we have to split up & go into 2 Bedrooms. On the whole they all seem a very nice crowd of fellows.
There are several [underlined] S Checks [/underlined] & Poles here also some New Zealanders now for the next 14 days we are under Strict Training & are not

allowed any passes out etc.
A week on Saturday I shall be moved from this unit so do not write to me after next weekend until I send you my new address. It may still be in Torquay or it may be Newquay in Cornwall.
I have been appointed Orderly for our section I.E. Responsible for their

good behaviour & Early Rising, Lights out & Blackout etc [sic]
The food here is very good in fact it is excellent Well I have to fall in in a few minutes to get some more equipment Give my love to all & tell David that is daddy is an airman now
