By September 1939 215 Squadron was a training squadron equipped with Ansons, Harrows and Wellingtons and became 11 Operational Training Unit. During this period it used RAF Honington, RAF Bramcote and RAF Bassingbourn. The squadron reformed in December 1941 with Wellingtons and, in a series of rapid moves, had four weeks at RAF Newmarket, seven weeks at RAF Stradishall, ten days at RAF Waterbeach and six weeks at RAF Harwell before transferring to India in April 1942. In October 1944 the squadron converted to B-24s and in April 1945 it became a transport squadron using C-47s.Refinements:
