My Dear mum,

Just a few lines in answer to your very welcome letter received today. I expect you will have received my parcel letters by now so there’s not much to write about.
I went to a dance on the station on Sunday & quite enjoyed myself. The band was quite [deleted] good & played all the popular numbers so I was quite happy. I received a letter from Mrs Groseman yesterday with the usual cigs in it. She told me about [undecipherable] all went round the standard [undecipherable].

Glad that you enjoyed yourself. I’ll make it up to her on my leave.
Also received a cake from Aunt Lil yesterday, a very nice one too. I’ll write to her after I’ve finished this letter.
Also had a letter from Rose breaking everything off. I’ll tell you all about it when I see you also received a letter from Mrs [undecipherable] so I’m not doing too bad am I?
Very glad to hear about old Dad. I shan’t be sorry either. I’ll drop a line to Kay, although I don’t relish it.
Well dear will close now with all my love to you all
