Tuesday.
My darling Jean,
Just a few lines to let you know every thing is under control and to give you the gen for next Saturday.
I’ve booked a room in your name at the Suffolk Hotel, Bury St Edmunds, the other place I wanted to go to was booked up, anyhow this seems quite a decent place, its in the centre of the town, quite easy to find if I’m

not there. The train leaves Liverpool Street at 2.20pm and you have to change at Cambridge, it should get to Bury at 5.27, I’ll meet you if possible at the station, if theres something doing and I can’t phone, wait until 7.30, at the Suffolk, either Ron will meet you if [deleted] we’re [/deleted] he’s not flying with us and bring you along to the party, if the party is scrubbed I’ll ring you at the Suffolk next morning about nine o/clock, this all sounds complicated, but its best to let you know what

goes on. Its all quite unlikely but you never know.
I’ve just been very busy cleaning the car, looks quite nice although I’ve left the wheels, these will have to come off when I’m on leave so it’s a waste of effort to clean them, have had a bit of trouble with the petrol pump but think I’ve fixed it for the moment
We had quite a decent journey up on Sunday, the train left from number 10 platform after all, we were lucky, the nearest to the steps, was quite a mad

4/
rush, the train was late leaving 5.20 to be exact but we were in camp at 8.20 so it was’nt too bad.
Regarding the Nuffield effort I’ve got to see the Adjutant tomorrow, will let you know all the gen on Saturday.
Well, must pack up now, its nearly dinner time and I’m getting hungry (so unusual).
Cheerio for the time being darling, keep your fingers crossed for Saturday.
Remember me to Mother & Dad.
All my love
Jack
