Dear Cpl Field

Please accept my profound apologies for “purloining” your procedure book which I return herewith. I’m glad you obtained my address though [underlined] how [/underlined] I can’t imagine.

3 weeks. Apparently we were “shanghied” [sic] here as we weren’t even given an option when we arrived. This no doubt will amuse some of my friends in the Comm section at Compton – particularly Cpl Sanderson. If you see him you might give him my best regards.

Sincerely Yrs.
