Bardney,
30th April/43.
Dear Beloved,
Darling I'm sorry I won't be able to spend your 21st, with you, it’s hopeless I've tried everything but I may be home around the 10th May. I couldn't think of anything to send you dearest so I thought you could get a few Savings certificates & then when its all over we can get good presents with their [deleted word] realised value.
Darling I can't write much more or I'll be late for work.
When you read this my darling you'll be 21, and we've only
[page break]
another year to wait then.
Do have a nice birthday my angel I'll be thinking about you all the time.
I adore you my beloved, do take care of yourself & don't worry too much about me.
Keep your chin up & keep smiling.
I worship you Darling
Yours forever
Ken. [kisses].
