Dear Jean
Well here I am as promised, as you will see I am in a very nice country, and I am enjoying myself.
I had a lovely voyage over on a fairly small boat but we had a lovely time and only 4 days rough weather but was it rough the spray was coming over the bridge and the little [indecipherable word] were simply ploughing through it.

By the way the old joke of Will Fippes’ did not apply to me – “if there’s any thing in a lad the sea will [deleted] brought [/deleted] bring it out.” for I was OK.
Well I don’t think I even saw such a beautiful sight as the country here is in the fall. It is just like tecnicolour. [sic]
By the way I was tickled to death with the laws in this State. One is when you go to the cinema

you cannot smoke. Another is it is a dry state and if you want liquor you have to get a permit and then go to the liquor stores and buy your houch [sic] then carry it back “Sealed” to the address on the permit and then drink it there.
I had a good laugh at one of the Warrant Officers he lent another bloke his car and he was caught speeding so they sent the warrant
[page break]

to the W.O. who was never out of camp, - and he had to pay the fine because the person who owns the car has to take the car back.
Well Jean I have very little news so I will close and get my bed made or it will be lights out before I have finished.
So Cheerio
your Loving Brother
