Reconnaissance photograph showing a river running top to bottom and a bridge crossing in the middle with several spans down. There are many craters on both sides of the river. Explanatory note 'NIENBURG BRIDGE over the river Weser after the attack by Bomber Command on 22 March 1945. This photograph show complete destruction of the bridge together with the greater part of the approach viaducts. Submitted with description 'Reconaissance photograph showing damage to Nienburg Bridge over River Weser after attack by RAF Bomber Command on 22/3/1945. The attack was carried out by 617 Squadron with a mix of Grand Slam and Tallboy bombs
