Description
Vertical aerial photographs showing on the left an industrial area with roads and buildings and on the right the same area with most of the structures destroyed. Explanatory text underneath 'Zeitz. The left hand photograph shows this synthetic oil plant before it had been attacked. During 1944, it was attacked five times by the 8th U.S.A.A.F and severely damaged. By 17th December, 1944, however, structural repairs to the majority of the buildings had been almost completed. On 16/17 January 1945, the plant was attacked by Bomber Command and reduced to the state shown in the right hand photograph'. Submitted with description '"Before and after" reconnaissance photographs of Braunkohle-Benzin synthetic oil plant at Zeitz, showing damage caused by RAF Bomber Command operation on 16-17/01/1944'.
