CATERPILLAR CLUB
March 7, 1944.
Mrs. W. H. Layne,
97, Harlaxton Road,
GRANTHAM...Lincs.
Dear Mrs. Layne,
I was very glad to hear from No. 97 Squadron last month, that your husband had saved his life with one of our chutes.
I have much pleasure in welcoming P/O. W. H. Layne as a member of the Club, and in sending you his membership card herewith, which I have made out for his rank at the time he baled out.
P/O. Layne is also entitled to a small gold Caterpillar Pin, but I regret that due to supply difficulties it may not be possible to let you have this until after the War. I am very sorry, but can only promise to send it at the first opportunity.
With best wishes for your husband's early return home. I remain,
Yours sincerely
