Dear Fran,
I cant tell you in words just how sorry I was to hear of your sad news, my first hope is the good news won’t be long in reaching you, as the suspense is just too terrible I can understand a little of what you are going through, but I know youll [sic] have strength given to bear up & trust as you’ve always done. It must be terrible for those people who have no faith religion & its [sic] during these terrible times that we realize how much our faith means to us. Although I’ve never met Bob I feel I know of him we can’t afford to lose such splendid fellows as he is & it must be great comfort to you to know how many people respect & admire him, so take courage my dear & give my Love to your mother & father who I know will share equally in your anxiety, you & yours will be in our constant prayers & I know Herbert would wish me to put his name with mine in all I’ve said so bear up dear and all will be well.
our Love & thoughts go out to you
Kate.
