Dear Mrs. Wareing:-
Sorry to have been so long in replying to your nice letter and then in this brief form. And before I forget, thanks so much for the stamps you enclosed it was very thoughtful of you. I do hope you have had official news of your husband being P.O.W. Some of the others I reported have not yet heard.
My progress has been good but of necessity, slow. However I was taken off the stretcher on Tuesday and placed in a body cast again. I am to be repatriated and await now only the necessary arrangements however it may be a week or several weeks. Anyway I hope to get home by Christmas. Wish my crew could have the same hope, however they are all P.O.W.
In answer to your questions, my home is Winnipeg. I was Air Gunner on a medium bomber in 2nd TAF. Have been over here 15 months and enjoyed England & Scotland very much and hope to come back in peace time.
I do hope you will have your husband with you again soon.
Yours sincerely
Charles M. Walkden
