My Dear Mrs Wareing,
Many thanks for your kind letter, and it is a blessing that your husband is safe and better from his burns. I have had no further news about my son Bertie from the Red Cross, but I am still hoping and praying that he will come back to me. When he joined the Air Force he was serving his time to the chemistry, and he left school at 18 years of age. We didn't know he was flying until we got the news he was missing. Since that I have heard he took his wings off on the boat before coming home, he did this so that I wouldn't worry about him. There were just the 3 of us living at home, Bertie his sister & myself and we were very happy, should I

get any word I will let you know immediately, again thanking you.
Yours sincerely
Mrs Martha Campbell.
