Letter and citation for Distinguished Flying Medal awarded to Dennis Batty

Letter informs that details the service rendered, for which he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Medal announced in London Gazette on 29 July 1941.

Citation describes daylight attack on Neiville [sic] Aerodrome when his aircraft was attached by several enemy fighters. Pilot was wounded and Batty hit one of subsequent four fighters which attacked them after bomb release and drove off the others.

With reference to the third paragraph of your letter of 11th November, 1941, I am directed to enclose for your information, details of the service rendered by your son, for which he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Medal announced in the London Gazette dated 29th July, 1941.

Arrangements will be made for you to receive the medal from His Majesty if you so wish or, alternatively, it can be sent to you by post. I am to request that your desire in the matter me be notified to this department in due course.
